Potty Training is Lame!

I know Maddie looks all sweet and innocent in this picture, she is driving me crazy!!! We are trying to potty train Maddie and the first two days went really well. No accidents and she went pretty much everytime I asked her to. Then came today! She has decided that going pee in the toilet is too hard, but peeing in her underwear is somehow much easier. ARGGGGGG! I really need some help, the Prozac just isn't cutting it anymore. Anyone have any suggestions for me. I think I've tried just about everything. We've tried bribery, timers, rewards, sticker charts, reasoning, encourgagement from William and I...nothing is working. When I ask her where she goes potty, she now tells me in her diaper, not the toilet (which has changed since yesterday). When I told her, "No Maddie, we go potty in the toilet." Her response to me was, "I can't want to go in the potty." The worst part about it, is that she can do it. She is already pooped trained. She just wants to stay a baby like Jackson. I keep telling her that she will always be my baby even if she's potty trained. But, she's not buying it. Anybody want to take a very adorable almost 3 year old for a week or two and potty train her for me? Should I give up again (I tried potty training her about 6 months ago and it didn't take then either)? Or do I keep trying? Her school starts in a month and I really want her potty trained. Calgon, take me away!!!

Lis,
Been there done that oh so recently. I'm really at my worst as a parent when I need to potty train. So the bribe of Gymnastics really worked well for Gracie, but it still took 2 months. Good luck!

I really had a tough time with Lyndsey...I finally just left it alone for a little bit and decided that fighting with a 3 year old wasn't worth it. I left the potty chair in the bathroom and just said that it was in there whenever you had to use it. I would occasionally tell her to go in and use the potty. After awhile she did it. I was pretty worried that she would be in Kindergarten in pull-ups. Now if Lyndsey ever reads this she will deny it. I feel for you. Good luck.
See you on Friday night.

Hello my friend! We are experiencing the same thing with our Xan. She prefers her diaper.

With our Maddy...we really wanted her to use the potty before Xan was born, but she wasn't having it. We finally let it go and one day (this was after Xan was born), Maddy looked at us and said "I need to go potty." She ran into the bathroom and used the potty and we have had maybe 2 accidents since then.

They will do it on their own time, as hard as that is to accept, it's true. I like what Ang said...the potty is there for you if you need it.

Good luck my friend!
