Maddie wanted to wish everyone a very happy Fourth of July. She asked me what we were doing today and our conversation went like this...
Maddie, "Mom, is it a holiday today?"
Me, "Yes Maddie, it is."
Maddie, "Is it Christmas?"
Me, "No, it's the 4th of July"
Maddie, "What's that?"
Me, "It's America's birthday."
Maddie, "Who's America? Is it the girl that used to live next door?"
I just cracked up after that.
This is Maddie making her first flag cake. She decorated the whole thing with the fruit. Didn't she do an awesome job? I didn't know how talented she was. (I guess I should let my kids in the kitchen a little bit more).
Last night we went and saw a fireworks show to get us ready for the 4th. Jackson was scared at first and then just fell asleep. We couldn't believe it. He slept through pretty much all of it, even the end, which was really loud. Maddie on the other hand was loving it! She thought it was so cool and named every animal and shape that the fireworks made. I couldn't believe how into it she was. Here is just a little snipit of how excited she was watching.
We want to wish all of your families a very happy 4th of July. We are so blessed to live in a free country with all of the rights and liberties that we have. Enjoy!

So i made this cake for our 4th of July party here, and everyone that saw it first said, is Lisa here, or did Lisa make the cake? For some reason, you are the only one that can make this cake.
Hey, we tried to make a cake like that too. Your kids are freakin' adorable.
