Thanksgiving 2011

This was our 4th or 5th annual Thanksgiving feast with the King's and Fish's.  It's so much fun to have them come up and spend the day with us.  It's super relaxing with no real deadline for the food to be finished.  We eat when it gets done and it always seems to work out great.  The men and boys went and played football in the morning while Josie and I hung out at home and started to get things ready and waited for the King's to arrive.  I'd have to say the food was especially good this year.  Maybe it was because we added ham and homemade stuffing to the menu or maybe it was because we had our Sara back and not in the hospital this year.  It was a great day all around and I hope we can keep up our tradition for many years to come!
PS~There's a little story of the drama for the day at the end of the post.  Get excited!

Come on...How cute is this kid!?!  Great pic Jos
And now for the drama for the day...Maddie, Charlie and Jacob were in our room and the rest of us were downstairs. Merrill had left a spotlight in our room because we had done a glow in the dark puzzle the week before and the kids were looking at it. I guess the spot fell on the carpet and melted the carpet, the pad and a little bit of the floor board in a matter of minutes. Charlie and Jacob came running downstairs to get us and left poor Maddie holding the spotlight. Needless to say, she was in hysterics for about 45 mins. She didn't want to sleep in the house because she thought it was going to burn down and she wouldn't put on her pj's because she needed to be ready to leave at a moments notice when the fire alarm went off. We finally calmed her down and I told her that we learned two very valuable lessons. 1. Daddy is never going to leave a spotlight in our room again and 2. Maddie is never going to let a spotlight fall on the floor again. It was quite the ending to the day.

The burned spot (If you know how to fix the spot with extra carpet, come on over and help us.)

Yikes. My fix would be to just put a chair over it.
