I have loved, loved, loved the Olympics this year. From the very beginning at the Opening Ceremonies, it was fabulous! (I wanted to download a video of it for you, but I'm retarded and I couldn't figure out how to get it on. Oops.) It's so nice to see that the world can put aside their differences for a couple of weeks, and we get to see the most incredible atheletes on the face of the earth. It's so much fun to watch! I'm bummed that going to be finishing soon.
How great was Michael Phelps! He is absolutely amazing. All of his races were nail biters and so much fun to watch.
Nastia Liukin was definitely my favorite gymnist. I know everyone wanted Shawn Johnson to win the overall, but I really wanted Nastia to do it and I actually got chills when she won. I will say that Shawn Johnson was robbed in the floor finals, but I was thrilled that she was able to walk away with a gold in the balance beam, even if I do think Nastia's routine was better than hers. I'm really bummed that the gymnastics are over.
How great were these two women!?! But, why do they have to play volleyball almost naked? The men don't. It just bugs me a little.

I know Bolt was a little cocky after his 100M race, but he really is fast!

And, then there was poor Laura Wilkinson. Going for another Olympic metal. Bummer that she couldn't pull it off.
Thanks to all the athletes, the Chinese for their amazing technically ablilities to put on the best Opening Ceremonies ever and to the announcers (especially, Bella Karolyi even though I couldn't understand a word he said) for making this one of the best Olympics better!

Amen, sister. We have been glued to the TV set watching these Olympics, too. From Michael Phelps' Mom collapsing in the stands to Nastia Liukin's All Around Gold Medal, it's been awesome.
Love ya ta pieces,
Caroline
We have loved them also and they were our FHE for 2 weeks because we were so glued to the TV. Sheri and Dad, and I think the rest of us were screaming at Michael Phelps to cheer him on and also his team mates for the relays. Talk about nail biters!!! We were so proud of the times when the the USA took the gold and the lump formed in my throat. The only problem is that we stayed up till at least 1a.m. every night for 2 weeks. I'm exhausted....it has been well worth it.
Lisa, thanks for a beautiful blog and for a great reminder of the greatness of these games.
I love Bobby Kostas...who is from St.Louis and still lives there. He is the best.
Hugs and loves,
Mom
Come on, the women's volleyball uniforms were strategically designed by staff at M.I.T. to enhance their playing performance!! Plus the men are just better overall, so they don't need to wear them - ha ha.
