We played in the morning, and then went out to lunch to Jack in the Box, just the two of us. I tried and tried to convince her to go to Chinese, Mexician or even Italian, but she wanted to go to Jack in the Box because they were giving out Yo Gabba Gabba toys in the kid meals. So, Jack in the Box it was. (They were so nice, they gave her 2 toys for her birthday)
30 minutes and a huge stomach ache later (that would be me with the stomach ache), we headed out to get a manicure for Maddie. Now, I really didn't think it would be that hard to find a nail place, but I guess most spas close on Labor day. Anyway, after 20 minutes of driving around trying to find a place and almost losing my lunch a couple of times, we finally found a nail place whose door was open. We ran in to find that it was actually closed, but the very nice Vietamese lady said she would give Maddie her first manicure for her birthday.
Maddie sat so still and loved every minute of it. I couldn't believe how great she was. She definitely isn't my little baby anymore. So sad!
How cute are her nails!
After her manicure, we came back home and Ashley Graham and Maddie made some cookie dough and then we went swimming with the Turners and the Fullers. Maddie had so much fun going down the slide and off the diving board. She started getting a little tired, so we came home to veg for a little bit before dinner. The Turners and Fullers joined us for a yummy birthday dinner and Cindy was nice enough to bring a big birthday cookie and ice cream for the event. We sang again and opened presents. Maddie loved all of her new toys.
Finally, it was time for tubbies and bed. She was exhausted to say the least. I'm a little sad to say goodbye to her 4th birthday. We've been looking so forward to it for such a long time. Now we have to wait a whole year for another one.
In honor of Maddie's 4th birthday, I have to write some of my favorite Maddie quotes.
1. (talking to me to get me to get out of bed in the morning) "Come on old lady, make me some breakfast!"
2. "Aarrgh, ladies." (in her best pirate's voice)
3. (telling Cindy about her preschool teacher having a baby) "My teacher's baby already cracked out."
4.(this morning she wanted me to tell her what we were going to do today). "Let's break it down already."
Aaahhh Madeline. You really do put a smile on my face everyday. You are so funny. I remember when I was pregnant with you, we were so worried that you could never be as funny as William was as a kid, but you have done a great job keeping up! I'm so glad that you're my daughter and that you remind us every day to read our scriptures and say family prayers, that you remember to put your shoes away, that you clean your room and make your bed and you ask to help me when you're in the right mood! I love you Mads! I hope you had a great birthday because I know I had a great day with you.
