Every year, Mother's Day is a let down. I always hate it because I end up doing everything the same as any other day, but I'm bitter because I think every other mother in America is having a fabulous day of presents and being pampered by their adoring children, while mine are the same as any other day, not adoring and way too needy...but not this year. It started off great...breakfast in bed from Merrill, while the kids were still asleep. There's nothing I love more than breakfast that hasn't been touched by kids' hands. After a delicious breakfast of pancakes and strawberries, I got ready while Merrill made breakfast for the kids. He actually had time to help me get them ready for church before he had to leave for work and there was no arguing or screaming from me for everyone to get ready. Quite the treat!
After church, Cindy, Nicole and I headed up to Sacramento to go see Celtic Women. (I know, we're rebels, but it was totally worth it) The concert was so great. We all loved it. And I loved that I didn't have to make lunch or dinner! When I got home at 7:30pm, Merrill said, "What are you doing home so early? You're supposed to be gone all day." What a great husband! Mother's Day really is fun when there's no kids or husband, just a fun day with the girls. Thanks babe for letting me have a day off!

I took this picture at what I thought was the end of the concert when a ton of other people were taking pictures, when an usher came up and yelled at me to put my camera away or he was going to take it. Oops!
Nicole, Cindy & I with the bagpiper. He was amazing!

I'm so glad you had a nice day. Just so you know...I tried tracking you down. I had strawberries, sour cream and brown sugar for you! I even went by Turners when I saw your car there and Al said you weren't there and then hemmed and hawed but never gave a straight answer about if you'd be back. I got into the car and told Dave....'well Al is hiding something. They must have gone to do something on Sunday!!!" I was totally right! Glad you had a wonderful time. I was thinking maybe you girls had gone to brunch at Silverado. That is always the secret thing I want to escape church to go do. Talk to you soon.
isn't that the truth ... every year jamie asks me, "what do you want for mother's day? other than not being a mom."
glad merrill was around long enough to spoil you a little!
we are quite the rebels, aren't we. bad, bad girls. :)
That sounds like the best Mother's Day ever. Merrill deserves the best Father's Day ever next month.
Thanks for sharing with us.
