Today is Maddie's 5th birthday. I can't believe my baby girl is 5. She is so grown up now. She knows what she likes and is very opinionated about it. Her birthday celebration started on Sunday with a cake and singing because Ashley came over so of course, the kids made her bake a cake.
Today she got a crown at school and all of the kids in her class sang to her. I loved how excited they all were that it was her birthday. They even clapped and cheered for her. You have to love kindergartners. I wanted to make cute sugar cookies in the shape of 5's for her class, but when I asked Maddie if she liked that idea, she said, "No, I want the minicupcakes with white frosting and spinkles on them from Safeway." I tried and tried to change her mind, but she had her heart set on them, so that's what she got. I was totally embarrassed to bring them in. Luckily, there was a substitute in her class, so her teacher didn't see. My favorite thing about the cupcakes was when I looked at the label, after I've given them all out and noticed that there may have trace amounts of peanuts or tree nuts. Oops!

Tonight we are having a family dinner with the Turners, Fullers & Woods. I will put pictures on the blog tomorrow. Oh, when I told Maddie she could have anything she wanted for dinner, at first she wanted chicken, buttered noodles and peas. But, then she changed her mind and said she wanted New York Pizza Kitchen. This child refuses to let me cook for her! She even wanted Cindy to make the cake.

Ryann saw Maddie at church on sunday and she just said, "Mom. I really really really like that girl. Is she my friend? Can she come to my house to play?" Might be the incentive to get us to move back to napa!
Happy Birthday, Maddie! I love that she wants Cindy to make the cake. Remember the first year we brought Maddie a birthday cake and then every other time we came over and had a cake for dessert she thought it was her birthday?! Hahaha. I love that girl.
